Alexander Allmendinger is the Test Lab Manager of the OPC Foundation European Certification Lab and is running the lab since it opened in 2016. In this position he is working with a great variety of OPC products and solutions on a daily basis. Because he is also working with a wide variety of communication protocols, he has been sharing the vision of the OPC Foundation for many years now. In the early ages of OPC UA he started working with the technology when validating the first implementations of the Unified Architecture stacks. He also helped preparing one of the first certified OPC UA clients and was maintaining it for several years. Since then he joined almost every Interoperability Workshops to ensure interoperability with other OPC UA products. This finally led to his current position in the OPC Foundation European Certification Lab and being a member of the Compliance Steering Committee.

Seit 1996 hat die OPC Foundation die Entwicklung und Einführung der OPC-Standards für den Informationsaustausch gefördert. Als Befürworterin und Bewahrerin dieser Spezifikationen hat die Foundation die Aufgabe, Industrieanbietern, Endanwendern und Softwareentwicklern bei der Aufrechterhaltung der Interoperabilität ihrer Fertigungs- und Automatisierungsanlagen zu helfen. Die OPC Foundation hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, die besten Spezifikationen, Technologien, Prozesse und Zertifizierungen bereitzustellen, um eine hersteller- und plattformübergreifende, sichere und zuverlässige Interoperabilität bei der Übertragung von Daten und Informationen aus der eingebetteten Welt in die Unternehmens-Cloud zu erreichen. Die Foundation betreut weltweit über 980 Mitglieder in den Bereichen Industrieautomation, IT, IoT, IIoT, M2M, Industrie 4.0, Gebäudeautomation, Werkzeugmaschinen, Pharma, Petrochemie und Smart Energy.
